The iconic performer, whose voice defined generations of Greek music, will lie in state from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Holy Church of Saint Eleftherios in central Athens, allowing the public to pay their respects. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens, in what is anticipated to be a highly emotional ceremony with the presence of figures from across the cultural and public sphere. In an official statement, her family invited the public to honor her memory and requested that, instead of wreaths, donations be made to a charity supporting children with serious illnesses.
