Marinella Funeral Set as Fans Pay Final Tribute


Greece is preparing to bid farewell to legendary singer Marinella, as her funeral is set to take place on Tuesday, March 31, in Athens.

The iconic performer, whose voice defined generations of Greek music, will lie in state from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Holy Church of Saint Eleftherios in central Athens, allowing the public to pay their respects. Large crowds are expected, reflecting the deep connection she maintained with audiences throughout her decades-long career.

The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens, in what is anticipated to be a highly emotional ceremony with the presence of figures from across the cultural and public sphere. Her burial will take place later in a private ceremony attended only by close family members, in accordance with their wishes.

In an official statement, her family invited the public to honor her memory and requested that, instead of wreaths, donations be made to a charity supporting children with serious illnesses.
