Maria Sakkari Becomes Newest Rolex Ambassador

In an exciting announcement for the tennis community, Rolex has welcomed Maria Sakkari into its prestigious family of Ambassadors.

This marks a significant milestone for both Sakkari and the brand, as the Greek player joins the elite group of athletes representing Rolex.

Sakkari has made her mark on the tennis world with a series of historic achievements. She became the first Greek woman to break into the world’s top 10 in 2021 and reached her highest career ranking of No. 3 on March 21, 2022. In 2023, she celebrated a career highlight by securing her first WTA 1000 title in Guadalajara. With her inclusion, Sakkari becomes the second Greek Rolex Ambassador, following in the footsteps of fellow player Stefanos Tsitsipas, who joined the ranks in 2019.

Expressing her excitement, Sakkari said, “It is a great honour to become a Rolex Ambassador, alongside so many incredibly talented and legendary players. Tennis is thriving in Greece, so it is very special to know that Rolex is supporting the development of both the women’s and men’s sport in my country. I am excited to embark on this journey together, and seeing the Rolex crown at the tournaments I play in will be a great reminder that I am part of this amazing family.”

Rolex Ambassadors are known for their achievements and embody the brand’s values of heritage, quality, and prestige. They represent a range of fields, from sports and exploration to the arts and sciences, all demonstrating excellence, precision, and innovation.

Rolex has a long-standing tradition in tennis, dating back to 1978 when it partnered with The Championships, Wimbledon. The brand has since supported major tournaments, including all four Grand Slam events: the Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open. Additionally, Rolex sponsors ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 events, the Laver Cup, Davis Cup Finals, and the Nitto ATP Finals and WTA Finals.

With her addition, Sakkari joins a distinguished group of Rolex Ambassadors who consistently push the limits of performance and achievement. This family includes Grand Slam champions such as Carlos Alcaraz, Coco Gauff, and Jannik Sinner, as well as rising stars like Stefanos Tsitsipas, Ben Shelton, and Qinwen Zheng, and tennis legends like Rod Laver, Björn Borg, Chris Evert, and Roger Federer.
