Greek-American pop artist Maria Ellis chatted about her new radio single “I Like Me (When I’m Loving You).”
‘I Like Me (When I’m Loving You)’ single
Regarding her new single, she remarked, “I was actually inspired by Tayla Parx, a singer/songwriter/producer who has worked with Ariana Grande. She released a pack of samples, so I decided to use one of them to make a song and posted it online.”
“My producer and friend Cristian Macy reached out when he saw it on Instagram to finish it. After that we pretty much had the beat and some added instrumentation,” she added.
Music and songwriting inspirations
On her music and songwriting inspirations, she shared, “Everything inspires me. My life, movies, books, and my favorite artists. This song is definitely a love letter to my favorite female Pop/R&B artists like Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande.”
“This new song feels like me but also a little more grown up,” she admitted. “My last project ‘Ultrabaddie’ was about confidence and independence while this is about how a serious relationship can help you accept your insecurities and see them in a different light,” she explained.
Particularly impressive about this song is that it was released on a special day in Greek culture (August 15th), which coincides with the religious holiday “The Dormition of the Virgin Mary,” as well as Maria Ellis’ nameday.
“I feel so grateful to share this song not only on such an important day in Greek culture because of the Dormition of Virgin Mary and my nameday, but it’s also the wedding anniversary of my grandparents,” she said.
“This date also coincides with my Yiayia Maria and my late Pappou Harry Korines’ wedding anniversary,” she revealed.
“Their relationship was absolutely adorable to watch and it feels quite kismet that this release lines up with their day as well,” she acknowledged.
Future plans
On her future plans, she stated, “I plan on releasing as much music as possible. I have so much new music and so much more to say.”
“It feels amazing that although I’ve been doing this my whole life, it also feels like I’m just getting started. I plan on playing some shows as well, so stay tuned on my socials,” she exclaimed.

For her fans and listeners, Ellis expressed, “I want my listeners to feel sheer and utter happiness listening to this new single.”
“I really want people to always come away feeling happier and lighthearted after listening to my music,” she concluded.
