Greek politician Ariadni Latonopoulou has gone viral on the internet for performing Donald Trump-inspired dance moves to the classic tune of YMCA. She was seen dancing to celebrate the victory of the Republican candidate as the 47th President of the United States of America.
On November 6, Donald Trump officially beat Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris by 86 electoral votes. The former President ended the election with 312 electoral votes, surpassing the required number of 270. Meanwhile, Kamala Harris received 226 votes.
On November 7, Ariadni Latonopoulou paid tribute to the soon-to-be president by posting a video of herself on Facebook, copying the dance moves of the 78-year-old to YMCA on Antenna Greek TV. She captioned it as (translated from Greek to English by Google):
“New era, new day! We are finally expressing ourselves. They finally voted in America for logic and the self-evident, those that were suppressed for so many years. Reason overcame insanity.”
Latonopoulou’s decision to publicly endorse the former President has grabbed the attention of netizens, with people either lavishing praise or being curious about the Greek politician. Some popular comments on X from users across the globe are as follows:

One netizen shared a seemingly hilarious incident involving the YMCA dance.
“My nephew is a dj in a club. Told me he played this song and people started doing “the Trump” dance immediately,” one netizen wrote.

The origins of Donald Trump’s iconic YMCA dance moves explained
On October 14, the 78-year-old was seen dancing in front of thousands of fans during an event at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center and Fairgrounds in Oaks, Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania was one of the major battleground states in the 2024 United States Presidential election and was finally won by the Republicans along with other swing states.
The event on October 14 was shortened due to two medical emergencies among attendees. Therefore, the 78-year-old ditched the regular schedule and decided to turn the entire event into a music-listening session.
“Let’s not do any more questions. Let’s just listen to music. Let’s make it into a music. Who the hell wants to hear questions, right?” he announced.
The announcement was followed by the former President swaying and dancing to a curated collection of songs for almost 40 minutes. The roster of songs included classics like It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World, Nothing Compares 2 U, YMCA, and many others.
On November 6, he also celebrated with his fans by dancing to the YMCA after his victory speech. Addressing the supporters in Florida, he said:
“We’ve achieved the most incredible political thing.”
He followed it up by pointing to the crowd and dancing to the YMCA.
However, his dance moves have been incessantly criticized by the Democratic camp, especially Kamala Harris. On October 15, i.e., the day after the Pennsylvania rally, @KamalaHQ slammed him on X, writing:
“Trump appears lost, confused, and frozen on stage as multiple songs play for 30+ minutes and the crowd pours out of the venue early.”
Harris also described the former President as “increasingly unstable and unhinged” at her Pennsylvania rally on October 14.
