Mac DeMarco announces new album ‘Guitar’ and shares ‘Home’

Mac DeMarco has unveiled details of his new album, Guitar, set for release on August 22nd, 2025, through Mac’s Record Label.

The new record was made at DeMarco’s home studio in Los Angeles last November, which is also where the musician wrote Guitar. The singer-songwriter handled all aspects of this record by himself, apart from mastering, which was provided by David Ivers, including mixing the album in Canada as well as shooting the music videos and album artwork on tripods.

In a statement, DeMarco says of the new album: “I think Guitar is as close to a true representation of where I’m at in my life today as I can manage to put to paper. I’m happy to share this music, and look forward to playing these songs as many places as I’m able.”

He also touched upon his new single, ‘Home’, which the singer-songwriter describes as “a song I wrote at my home in Los Angeles about what home means to me”.

On the new track, DeMarco poignantly sings, “These days I’d much rather be on my own, No more walking those streets, That I once called my home, Because down every lane there are, Faces and names, That have memories attached, That I’d sooner let go, Sooner than I’d go home again.”

Upon announcing his tour dates for 2025 in April, DeMarco confirmed he would be releasing a new album in August, but refrained from sharing any further details about the project.

DeMarco’s tour is set to begin on August 29th at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles with the US leg set to conclude on September 29th at the Santa Barbara Bowl in California. On October 21st, DeMarco will land in mainland Europe, beginning at the Paradiso in Amsterdam. He will also visit Rotterdam, Paris, Prague, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Stockholm, Oslo, Berlin, Cologne, and Brussels.

In the UK and Ireland, DeMarco will perform in Birmingham, Brighton, London, Cambridge, Manchester, and Dublin. His tour concludes with a trip around his native Canada in December, which includes 11 dates.

Now, he’s extended his tour through 2026 with a new batch of dates in Asia and the United States.
