LUXEMBOURG: LSC 2025 statistics – When will the finalists be revealed?

From yesterday and until Sunday, November 10, 2024, Luxembourg’s national public broadcaster, RTL is hosting the auditions for the Luxembourg Song Contest – LSC 2025. During these days, the international jury will choose the finalists, from a pool of 79 songs!

This year, the auditions have particularly aroused the interest of Eurovision fans, as the rules for participation have become stricter and more professional!

LSC 2025 – Meet the jury!

The jury selecting the LSC 2025 finalists will consist of international experts with extensive experience in Eurovision.

Poli Genova – Representative of Bulgaria at Eurovision in 2011 and 2016 and Hostess of Eurovision Junior 2015
Niamh Kavanagh – Winner of Eurovision 1993 and representative of Ireland at Eurovision 2010
Marie Myriam – Winner of Eurovision 1977
Eldar Gasimov – Winner of Eurovision 2011

Participation criteria / Presence of international artists!

This year, 53 artists are fighting for a place in the LSC 2025 Grand Final, which will be held on January 25th at Rockhal. In order to be considered eligible, artists had to meet at least one of the following criteria:

be Luxembourg nationals,
have lived in Luxembourg for at least three years,
have strong ties to the music and cultural scene of Luxembourg.

As RTL informs us, of the 53 participants, 70% are Luxembourgish, 25% meet the residence criterion, while 5% have cultural ties to Luxembourg.

It is noteworthy that the participants come from 12 different nationalities. In addition to 70% of Luxembourgers, 13% come from Mediterranean countries (Italy, Portugal, Spain) and 11% from neighboring countries (France, Belgium, Germany). However, Greece is also represented, as well as Hungary and the United States, at a rate of 6% of the total.

Of the 79 songs submitted, 75% have Luxembourgish participation in their writing, while the entries vary in style and genre, covering all musical tastes (rock, pop, ballads, but also subversive & grandiose acts).

When will we know the LSC 2025 finalists?

On November 18, 2024, RTL is going to announce the names of the LSC 2025 finalists, a process of great importance, as the winner will represent Luxembourg at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, which will be held in Basel, Switzerland.
