With its scenic routes and diverse landscapes, Loutraki in the Peloponnese is set to welcome cyclists from around the world as host of the UCI Gran Fondo Loutraki 2025, reinforcing its growing status as a premier sports destination.
Taking place on Sunday, November 2, the event forms part of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series and will be organized in Greece by Kyvernitis Sports & Events, the sports division of Kyvernitis Travel Group, in collaboration with the Regions of Attica and Peloponnese and the Municipalities of Loutraki–Perachora–Agioi Theodoroi and Megara. A total of 380 cyclists from Greece and abroad are expected to compete.
“Through this event, we aim to showcase Greece’s cycling scene, boost tourism and the regional economy, and promote team spirit, collaboration, and generosity through the participation of local communities,” said Kyvernitis Travel Managing Partner George Kyvernitis during a media briefing.
Racing between sea and mountains
Part of a global series that celebrates the “Cycling for All” philosophy, the UCI Gran Fondo includes 37 races across all continents, each organized under strict sporting standards and with strong ties to tourism.
The Greek edition features a 110-kilometer route beginning in Loutraki and weaving through the emblematic landscapes of Corinth and Western Attica. Cyclists will pass through Isthmia, Agioi Theodoroi, Kineta and Megara, before tackling the challenging mountain climb to Kato Pefkanea and returning to the finish line in Loutraki.
“The UCI Gran Fondo enhances our area’s appeal as an international sports destination and supports our vision to firmly establish it on the global sports map,” said Loutraki Mayor George Gkionis.
The two-day event will also feature an expo, pasta parties, technical workshops, and a medal ceremony. Winners will qualify for the UCI Gran Fondo World Final, to be held in August 2026 in Niseko, Japan.
Athens to host UCI Mobility Forum 2026
Further underscoring Greece’s role in global cycling, Kyvernitis Travel, together with the Municipality of Athens, will host the UCI Mobility and Bike City Forum 2026 in the Greek capital.
In its 8th edition, the annual conference of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) will take place in Athens on May 17–18, 2026.
“Following Copenhagen — a city widely seen as a model of cycling culture — Athens will take up the baton to host the leading international conference on cycling and urban mobility,” noted George Kyvernitis.
Both events highlight Greece’s expanding reputation as a destination where sports, tourism and community engagement come together to deliver world-class experiences.
The UCI Gran Fondo Loutraki 2025 will be held under the auspices of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) and the Hellenic Cycling Federation.
