Live music coming up this week

Music performances, recitals and concerts will entertain Cyprus’ music lovers this week as musicians take the stage across the island. Coming up first is a performance by the Yogev Shetrit Trio that will play Sweeping Andalusian Jazz at Lofou’s Agrovino Wine Bar on Thursday evening.

The trio’s music combines elements of traditional North African music, Gnawa, Andalusian music, contemporary jazz and Mediterranean music. Playing live will be David Sheetrit on piano, Alexandros Panagiotou on bass, and Yogev Shetrit on drums and compositions.

On the following evening, those in Paphos will have the opportunity to enjoy the Mandolinata of Stelios Karageorgis, a musical ensemble of dedicated amateur musicians, featuring mandolins. The ensemble will perform at the garden of Technopolis 20 on Friday, presenting songs from the discography of Manos Loizos, a highly influential Greek composer and songwriter known for his profound contributions to Greek music, especially during the latter half of the 20th century.

Paphos Greek music lovers will enjoy another music-filled evening this weekend as Alkinoos Ioannides holds a concert in Tala. As part of his summer tour, the Cypriot singer will perform at Tala Amphitheatre on Saturday evening, accompanied by his band of four Cypriot musicians, playing a rich soundscape of compositions.
