The poetic metaphorical lyrics and video talking for the genocide of her people (Pontiac). But, for political correct reasons everything represented metaphorical
The tree symbolizes the region on the southern coast of the Black Sea where Klavdia's Greek ancestors used to live since antiquity and where genocide, in various forms and at various times, took place, even during the 20th century. One form of genocide is described here in the video: A little Greek girl is being kidnapped from her home by two 'human' monsters and is…finally drowned in the water. Horrible things like that and many more were being planned and executed, in order to force the Greek population to either leave their homeland and their roots or to stay and be assimilated by force. The fire symbolizes the ethnic cleansing attempted which has resulted in the loss of hundreds of thousands of people.
"Asteromáta" ["She, with eyes like stars" ("Starry-eyed girl")] unlike all other Eurovision entries, talks about loss and violent uprooting.
That is, about the inhumanity we Greeks experienced in the past and that millions of people are experiencing today too, with the EU being one of those who cause it, and Eurovision wanting to brush it aside, in a Europe that has long divorced humanity, because it has now consciously chosen to feed the arms dealers…
▪︎ The black cloth that wraps the tree rooted in the ground portrays the geographical shape of Pontos (Pontus).
That's the part at the Black Sea of today's North Türkye, birthplace of Pontic Greeks (Klavdia is one of them) and the place where their – still unrecognized – genocide, systematically planned and commited by Kemal Ataturk from 1914 until 1923.
▪︎ The Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion (Attica) and the awesome sunset view over the Aegean Sea waters aren't just a beautiful tourist postcard.
The place was chosen on purpose because, according to Greek mythology, it was there where Aegeus committed suicide by falling into the sea (hense the name "Aegean Sea") when he saw the mourning black sails on his son Theseus's ship returning from Crete, for he thought his son was dead.
Pontic descent=greeks who used to live ynder the black sea in turkey and in the previous centure were extinguished by turks and those who survived fled to greece. well, we greeks considered as holocaust
My star,
My star,
My sweet mother, do not weep,
Though they dress you in mourning black.
This faded, weary body of mine,
No flame can ever crack.
The swallows born of fire’s embrace,
No matter how far they roam,
Shall never forget the sacred earth
That once they called their home.
Oh, my little starry-eyed one,
Lean, let me kiss you.
Upon your holy tears of light,
Let my parched lips rest anew.
Oh, my little starry-eyed one,
Lean, let me hold you.
Let these weary, forgotten wings
Find their last breath upon you.
Ah, my star, my precious light…
My sweet mother, do not weep,
My life’s a vessel, drifting free,
Forever searching for its home,
The wind, its sail at sea.
Oh, my little starry-eyed one,
Lean, let me hold you.
Let these weary, forgotten wings
Find their last breath upon you.
Ah, my star, my precious light…
Ah, my star, my precious light…
there is no need to know the greek language to catch the meaning, if you were good in reading comprehension at school or if you know about art, it is very easy to find the meaning and the symbols of this video which reaches the perfection. Each picture is like a cartpostal !
Cape Sounion (the temple in the video) refers to the myth of Aegeus, who thought his son Theseus had died (eaten by the Minotaur) and committed suicide by jumping from the cliff. Hence the name of the Aegean Sea. The lyrics are about the forced separation of a mother and a daughter. Pay attention to the suitcase of someone (a refugee) who was lost at sea. We have heard of thousands of refugees sinking in the Mediterranean in recent years. But migrants and war (fire) refugees are unfortunately everywhere and have always been around.
The temple of Poseidon at cape Sounion

νικητριΑ!!!!!!!!!!!
That's the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion (aka Sounio.) The Pontic Greeks lived in the Southern coastline of the Black Sea and many of them were killed or displaced. They had resided in the region since 700 BC. Asteromata means starry eyed. The ladies in the video are wearing Pontic garb and the cloth on top of the tree is formed in the shape of Pontus on the map.
Asteromata means the girl with eyes that shine like stars, that is wonderful sparking eyes!!!!
Asteromata ("Star-eyed") is a hymn to those that were very unfairly forced out or gone (from their home, land, life, you name it). Not even a single one will ever be forgotten, they will always be the most shining stars and please, don't cry for them, no tears, justice of universe dictates they WILL BE BACK!!
Ah asteri mou, tzivaeri mou = Oh my star, my precious gem
Clavdi'a, the new version (bigger and better one maybe) of Nana Mouskouri on the way!
Magnifique!!!!
❤❤ πολλά φιλιά από Ελλάδα ❤❤😂
My star
My star
My sweet mother, don't cry for me
Even if they wear black for you
My faded body
Flames cannot defeat it
The swallows of fire
Even if they cross seas
The soil of my roots
They never forget
My little star eyes
Come back to kiss you
In your holy tears
My lips to wipe
My little star eyes
Come back to catch you
My forgotten wings
Sterns to rest
Ah my star, my wind
My sweet mother, don't cry for me
My life is a ship
That seeks the return
Wind my sail
My little star eyes
Come back to catch you
My forgotten wings
Sterns to rest
Oh my star, my wind
Oh my star, my wind
My star
Το σκοτωσατε ομως , οπως το παρουσιασατε .
Pontic descent means her family was from Pontos, the region in the Black Sea coast of Turkey, a region that since ancient times has been greek until 1915 when the Turks committed a genocide against the Greeks of Pontos and killed more than 300 thousand people to clear the area from the greek presence there and the song reflects tharpt in in it's lyrics with mentions of crying, death, fire, roots, lands and other symbolisms. If you want I could translate the lyrics and the symbolism that us Greeks get with these lyrics that a simple translation can't do .
She is showing the drama of leaving your homeland; the places of the video are Pentálofos (Western Macedonia region) and Ancient Soùnio (Attica region) in Greece
