Kapshtica / After the trucks, the Greek side also blocks the passage of buses

Kapshtica Customs in Greece has announced the blocking of truck passage from this afternoon and for an indefinite period.

The cause was bad weather and heavy snowfall that affected both countries.

Following the previously issued announcement, the Albanian police announce that the Greek side has also blocked the passage of buses.

Announcement:

In addition to blocking the movement of heavy vehicles (trucks), movement will also be prohibited for buses until further notice.

During the evening hours today, the weather situation in the Korça region has worsened, currently there are no blockages but there are problems with the circulation of vehicles, mainly on the national axis Qafë Thanë-Pogradec, Pogradec-Korcë, Korcë-Ersekë. Restrictions have also been imposed by the Greek side, where from 17:00 today, the passage of trucks towards the Greek state has been prohibited.
Although the snowplows have been working, it has been noted that little or no salt has been put on some axes, causing some of the vehicles, mainly those with tires unsuitable for the season, to often get stuck until the chains are installed. The weather is expected to be bad in the coming hours, while sources inform us that the snowplows will work continuously even during the night.

According to information for the Korça region, there have been occasional power outages in several remote villages in Korça, Maliq and Pogradec, but the distribution operator’s teams on the ground have restored power. Currently, according to preliminary information, there are no major problems in the network, while all feeders are active in supply. The working teams will also be active during the night hours to recover in case of damage to the network.
