JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa Debuts in Greece

JW Marriott has announced the opening of JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa, the brand’s first Mediterranean beach resort. Set in Marathi, near the town of Chania, JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa spans over 100 acres of coastline. The resort houses 160 guestrooms, suites and villas, all offering views of the Aegean Sea, with the majority including private pools.

Anchoring the resort’s culinary philosophy is the JW Garden, a signature element of JW Marriott properties around the world, showcasing the brand’s commitment to well-being and sustainability. This garden cultivates fresh herbs and vegetables that are integrated into dishes and cocktails across the resort, enhancing flavor and connecting guests with nature. Culinary outlets include ANOEE, a Cretan open-fire restaurant serving traditional dishes prepared with locally foraged ingredients; Õnalos, presenting a refined sea-to-table concept; Cuccagna, delivering rustic Italian dishes with a contemporary touch; and Fayi, which serves Mediterranean-style shareable plates.

Additionally, Suncti by the Pool and Eēxis serve wine, cocktails and light bites. In collaboration with Line Athens, the resort also offers a bespoke mixology program built around Cretan botanicals and herbs from the JW Garden, combining local essences with modern techniques. The resort is also home to Europe’s first JW Market, a café-retail concept that offers locally sourced products, and  reflects the brand’s commitment to well-being and authenticity.

JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa’s wellness offerings include ANOSEAS Spa, which comprises five treatment rooms, hydrotherapy experiences and a beauty room. Guests will also have access to a yoga deck, four pools with sea views and a state-of-the-art fitness center.

Good to know: The Phestos Den, tailored to younger guests, offers an environment for cultural discovery, hands-on learning and creative play. Outdoor areas offer shaded tents, play zones and a vegetable garden, all designed to foster curiosity and a connection to nature. Off-site, families can enjoy sea-based adventures or cultural excursions to local monasteries and archeological sites.
