Julian Rachlin and Athens State Orchestra Bring Papadimitriou’s Music to Megaron

This Saturday, February 22, the Athens Concert Hall (Megaron) will host a special evening featuring acclaimed Lithuanian violinist and conductor Julian Rachlin, alongside the Athens State Orchestra under the baton of Georgios Balatsinos.

Lithuanian violinist and conductor Julian Rachlin.

At the heart of the evening is the work of celebrated Greek composer Dimitris Papadimitriou, whose compositions have been performed in prestigious concert halls worldwide. The program includes his Concerto for violin and orchestra, performed by Rachlin, and the world premiere of Symphony No. 1, showcasing Papadimitriou’s signature fusion of classical influences and contemporary musical expression.

A versatile and visionary composer, Papadimitriou seamlessly bridges orchestral, cinematic, and symphonic music, crafting deeply expressive and emotionally resonant works. Mikis Theodorakis once hailed him as one of Greece’s most distinguished composers. In 2006, he performed at the United Nations General Assembly Hall in honor of the organization’s 60th anniversary.
