Without warning or a chance for customers to queue up to say goodbye with last meals, the award-winning The Proper Greek in the British town of Hayle, Cornwall, shut the doors, five years after opening to plaudits from fans.
In an update to fans on Facebook, a spokesperson thanked its customers for their support.
The post read: “We are sorry to announce that Proper Greek is now closed and won’t be opening again. This was a hard decision that was not taken lightly,” said The Sun.

“All of us at Proper Greek would like to thank Nick S Reynolds and the Bird in Hand for hosting us for the last few years. We had some really good times over there and shared lovely moments with all of you.
“We would also like to thank all our lovely customers for supporting us. We would not have achieved the Best Greek Food in Cornwall award without you. It has been a hell of a ride! “Proper Greek out.”
