It’s baklava! Augusta Greek Festival is this weekend. Has anything changed due to Helene?

The wait is almost over for one of the season’s biggest festivities.

The fall edition of the Augusta Greek Festival was rescheduled to this weekend due to Hurricane Helene. It will be open 4-9 p.m. Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday-Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

While the date had to be changed, the festival’s chairwoman Michelle Enis confirmed Tuesday that they are set and ready for the festival and there will be no changes to the traditional menu or entertainment. Whether it’s lunch or dinner, the meals are among the festival’s headliners with heaps of feta fries, gyros, souvlaki, and other delicacies. They can be paired with Greek wines and sweets such as chocolate baklava. Delivery will not be available.

There will also be Greek dancing and music as well as souvenirs available for purchase like jewelry, t-shirts, and wooden creations. While Internet issues have required some to only accept cash, Enis said they will be able to accept credit/debit cards.

The festival is located in the parking lot of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox in Augusta at 953 Telfair St. Admission is free, but this still serves as the church’s biggest fundraiser for its ministry.
