these are not eaten by greeks … tyropitakia with… mayo sauce ??? Or the other thing with the tomato jam? And spanakopita with tzatziki? Who eats spanakopita with tzatziki? And that plain chicken kalamaki that looked dry? WTF?
@%#$%(#)%#% WHO PROPOSED THE SAUCE WITH THE CHESSE PIE? AND SPANAKOPITA WITH TZATSIKI?? GODS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is "greek" food in Irish, not the real greek food. We don't eat anything the way you present it.
6:09 Halloumi in jam😮?! 6:23 Halloumi is what you eat after a night out or at dinner with some garlic sauce or tzatziki. Halloumi actually comes from Cyprus.
They slaughtered the word μεζέδες 🤦🏽♂️. It ain’t pronounced Mercedes.
Edit: we never eat tiropita or spanakopita with any sauces.
And as a Cypriot we don’t ever serve halloumi with tomato jam. Typically halloumi is either grilled or fried the same way as eggs with a little olive oil in the pan. Also halloumi as a grated cheese for pasta is a thousand times better than pecarino romano cheese. (The halloumi for grated cheese is harder, not like the type they sell in markets where it’s softer) if you live in an area where there’s a Greek market you can buy it there. You can thank me later.
Pagan is a lovely, foul mouthed pleasure – in the very best possible way! Oh – and Greek food – always really high on my list. It must have imprinted on my when I visited there with my family when I was 10.
This is not even greek food
Tomato jam? I don't think a Greek ever even heard of its existence 😅
There's a region in central Greece called Thessaly, which is known for its pies : spinach pie, cheese pie, meat pie (mainly of chicken meat),pumpkin pie and others. Spinach pie, commonly known as spanakopita, is,in my humble opinion, the top of the pyramid. I've seen in this video that they served spanakopita with tzatziki as a side, which is not the case in Greece – Thessaly for that matter. We eat it with just plain sheep yogurt and it tastes divine. You won't find this combo in other parts of Greece though. You should try it (and thank me later). – PS : These people in this video are very funny 😁
All good, but i have neeever seen anyone eat tiropita with mayo mustard XD
Can u send me a Irish Setter? I send u 2 baking trays tiropita 😅
Greek mustard mayo sauce /.?🤔
Trust me us Greeks don't eat Haloumi. LET ALONE TYROPITA WITH A SAUCE???
In all these tasting videos it's good to have a local try them have their oppinion as well! Be certain the food is real and not some cheap knock off version of it from someone who has never seen it!
Habe selten so schwachsinnige Kommentare Gehört, ist dieses Level normal für Iren?
NO mayo sauce with the feta cheese pie. We serve it with sweet sour spicy tomato sauce or honey based sauce
We never serve souvlaki as a meze.
Haloumi is not exactly Greek, but Cypriotic. We rarely eat haloumi. There are cheeses that resemble haloumi served with tomato jam, like talagani and formaela
Common mezedes are:
Zucchini-cheese fried balls
Tigania, meat with peppers in lemon, mustard, olive oil sauce
Spetsofai, villagers sausage in red sauce with onions and peppers
Imam, grilled eggplants with tomato, basil and feta cheese
Mushrooms with mustard honey balsamico sauce
Grilled vegetables, sometimes eaten instead of fresh salad
Gigantes, large beans grilled in tomato sauce
Saganaki, fried cheese in a crust
Saganaki shrimps, fried with tomato, ouzo and feta cheese
Dolmades, staffed vinegar leaves with rice, served with yogurt sauce
Gavros marinatos, marinated small fish with vinegar, olive oil, garlic and red peppers
This is not even close to proper Greek food. This is low quality foreign supermarket sh@t cooked and combined by someone that has never been to Greece.
Thanks. im a beautiful hairy man, and im proud.
Call the priest , they are using sauces to eat tiropitakia and also call them samosas….😭😭😭🙏
Honey mustard sauce and other similar sauces are completely out of our preferences and combinations in Greece, especially with traditional pies (with fillo or without fillo). The sauces are close to other cuisines and styles of food. Enough with these ready made common and unhealthy habits. Why would always combine sweet dips and sauces with some foods?
Haloumi is not Greek is Cypriot-middle Eastern.
Souvlaki was dry and plain af. We call this dog food here.
Tyropita is eaten plain or with honey at some places.
Greek food is the most beautiful food..think of it as foods from the gods😊.
Please if you do have a decent Greek restaurant in your area, you have to try two typical traditional casserole dishes, "lago stifado" (Greek rabbit stew) and "kokora krasato" (rooster braised in wine). Those are tradition in a plate, well beside "gournopoula" (Messinian piglet/Roast suckling pig), that's something, I guess you can find only in Greece, due to the hustle of preparation no Greek restaurant abroad will bother if there isn't a market for it. Cheers and I love your content.
no Greek, eats, spanakopita(spinach pie), tiropita(cheese pie), mpougatsa(custard pie) or any kind of pita(pie with filo/phyllo ), with sauce, not even tzatziki. Also we need to mention, even though I am Greek and I love haloumi, we need to pay respects to the Cypriot brothers who share it with the world! The sauces are only for meats and fishes and maybe every other fried veggies that might need help to go down. 😉
Well, happy that you like it but greek don't eat it like this. I'll leave some tips bellow just because there are too many foreign people here.
1. We don't dip our tiropitakia in anything, idk what sauce was this suppose to be
2.souvlaki is either from pork (which is more popular, with a lot of seasoning) and chicken
3. Haloumi is cypriot, we don't really eat haloumi with jam,we just eat it fried or in salad
Thank you for loving our food tho❤
This video is so silly. Much love from greece.
Being Greek myself, I have to say this was a very disappointing video. The foods were not served appropriately. Never, and I mean never will you ever find mustard or ketchup at a table with these dishes as a dipping sauce. And the items featured are not mezedes, they are appetizers. Meze dishes would be grilled sausage, grilled octopus or fried calamari..
Was absolutely no research done for this video, because if so, then you would know that halloumi cheese is Cypriot and not Greek.
Very poorly represented cuisine.
Halloumi is a Cypriot cheese not Greek. Both Greek and Turkish Cypriots make halloumi and Turkish Cypriots call it Hellim. As a Cypriot I had to correct this, is our cheese 🙂
This is not real Greek food , this is an imitation
We don't eat mayo with tyropita . That's not Greek
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
us greeks invented EVERYTHING !!! even windex !
Can you guys pls hire a greek guy for these videos 😭 Nobody ever eats tiropita with any sauce
