Semeli Tagara’s InsaneSane merges experimental soundscapes with emotional depth, exploring the duality of sanity and insanity through immersive music.
Greek artist Semeli Tagara unveils her latest musical chapter with the new project InsaneSane, a captivating exploration of experimental soundscapes. Building on the momentum of her summer EP Horizon and recent singles ‘The One’ and ‘1,2,3’, this album showcases Semeli’s ability to fuse diverse instrumental elements with ethereal vocals, crafting an immersive auditory experience.
The opening track, ‘Future Idea’, sets the stage for the album’s journey, enveloping listeners in a world where rhythm and emotion intertwine seamlessly. The title reflects the album’s thematic duality, a dance between insanity and sanity. Standout tracks like ‘Absolute Grace’ and ‘Something 2’ perfectly illustrate this tension: the former invites listeners to “dance yourself off the ground”, while the latter delivers a poignant, sombre confession—“I needed you—not scared to say…I want it all.”
Born in Thessaloniki, Semeli began her musical journey at the age of six, composing her first piece and subsequently signing with Sony Music in 2002. Her extensive experience includes sharing stages with notable artists such as Calexico and David Lynch, as well as avant-garde projects that have captivated audiences across Greece.
With Insane Sane, Semeli Tagara solidifies her position as a trailblazer in contemporary music, blending elements of jazz, avant-garde, and pop into a uniquely compelling sound.
