Hotel review: Parga Beach Resort, Greece

Parga, Greece, is a delightful coastal town that feels like a hidden gem along the Ionian Sea. With its sparkling blue waters, sandy beaches, and vibrant, postcard-worthy harbour, it’s the perfect place to escape and unwind.

Just a short stroll over the hill, you’ll find the luxurious yet family-friendly Parga Beach Resort. This charming spot really goes the extra mile to ensure every family member has everything they need, offering a relaxing atmosphere and thoughtful touches that make your stay feel extra special.

Rooms and facilities

Each room and suite is tucked away amidst vibrant blooms and ancient olive trees, creating a peaceful retreat. Despite its boutique feel, there are a surprising 201 rooms and 43 brand-new suites nestled within this lush paradise.

The recent extension of the resort brings even more space to explore, with a new restaurant and pool area to enjoy. The vibe around the family pool area gives off cool 1970s Palm Springs vibes – effortlessly chic, whether you choose to take a dip or not!

I stayed in the stunning Eden Suite in the hotel’s new section. The design of the suite was both inviting and stylish, with spacious interiors, cosy furnishings and all the modern amenities you could need for a truly indulgent stay.

My favourite part? The dreamy bathroom with its stone finishes and arch walk-in shower. The suite also had a lovely balcony, perfect for soaking up the Greek sun or if you prefer, you can step out onto a small communal pool area complete with a sleek sun loungers and a private patio.

The rooms were pristine, with fresh towels provided on request, and even though the resort is large, it never felt crowded. There’s no mad rush to grab the best sunbed; the pools are spread out across the resort among the greenery.

Families will love the children’s soft play area, activity centre and small playground. Adults can unwind in the wellness centre or enjoy a couple’s massage knowing the kids are happily entertained. There’s also a well-equipped gym to ensure your fitness routine is maintained.

But what really makes Parga Beach Resort stand out is its location right by the sea. The sandy beaches and crystal-clear water are simply heaven. Plus, the resort makes it super easy to order drinks and food right to your sunbed with just the press of a button. Bliss!

Food and Drink

Kokona is the newest restaurant addition to Parga Beach Resort. With its relaxed, clean interior, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a meal, whether inside or outside for a more laid-back, alfresco experience. Kokona draws inspiration from traditional Greek tavernas, offering delicious homemade comfort food that’s carefully prepared and baked in a wood-fired oven. I started my day with the buffet breakfast which had an impressive selection to choose from.

For a stunning seaside dining experience, you can’t go wrong with Thalassa, the largest restaurant at the resort. The restaurant’s relaxed atmosphere makes it perfect for families. The menu features traditional Mediterranean classics like meze, fresh fish, and hearty meat dishes. Thalassa also offers a buffet-style dinner, which is great for picky eaters. What really makes Thalassa special is the entertainment. The highlight of the week was the Greek BBQ night where you can savour authentic Greek dishes while enjoying live music and dance performances.

My personal favourite of the restaurants was Alselea, the fine-dining gem of the resort. It serves modern Mediterranean cuisine with a sophisticated twist, and its location right on the beachfront makes it even more special. I recommend the beef tartare, which was prepared by the waiter in front of me, making the experience extra memorable. As Alselea is the smallest restaurant at the resort it’s a good idea to reserve a table in advance, especially during the busy season.

Hotel Highlights

If you’re a fan of Greek mythology, this hotel is the perfect botlthole for exploring the local sites. I had the pleasure of going on an amazing excursion with George, the owner of Epirus Adventures Jeep Tour, who led a scenic drive through the winding roads of Parga and showed me some incredible historical sites tied to Greek mythology. It was wonderfully informative and exciting day.

Make sure to leave time for a stroll along the famous Acheron River, also known as the “River of Hades”, hich is beautiful. It’s incredibly educational – and pretty enough to get the kids interested in the history, too.

What to do near by

Located on the beautiful east coast of mainland Greece, Parga offers much to explore, both on land and sea. One of the highlights is the daily boat trips to the nearby islands of Paxos and Anti-Paxos: stunning, quiet islands around a three-hour ride away.

Parga Beach Resort is just a short distance from the charming town of Parga, and its Venetian Castle perched on the hill. Explore the cobbled streets whilst browsing the numerous craft shops, or alternatively relax with a cocktail by the vibrant port.
