STATEN ISLAND, NY – The Holy Trinity-St. Nicholas Staten Island community hosted its highly-anticipated annual festival September 19-21.
Visitors enjoyed the traditional Greek food and sweets, were entertained by the live music, while the parish dance groups stole the show with their liveliness and impressive dance moves.
The community’s presiding priest Fr. Vasileios Apostolidis spoke with The National Herald, noting that “with the grace of the Holy Trinity and Saint Nicholas, we celebrated the festival of our Greek Orthodox Community this year.”
“It is a beautiful and successful event, the purpose of which is to present and promote Greek traditions and customs, Greek music, our authentic cuisine and, of course, the unsurpassed Greek hospitality,” he said. “We open the door of our hearts to all visitors.”
“It could not have been possible without the volunteerism and contributions of many parishioners,” Fr. Apostolidis said. “I would like to sincerely thank the members of the Parish Council, the Philoptochos Society, the youth and all those who offer their help for the success of this celebration, for the good of our Church. Warm congratulations to everyone.”

Parish Council President Andreas Economou thanked the volunteers for their many months of work, all the donors for their financial support, the neighboring and not only parishes for their support and the visitors of all nationalities who come to get to know [Hellenism], as he said, to taste Greek cuisine and to have fun.
“Everyone comes to enjoy excellent food, traditional sweets and beautiful music,” he said. “I am glad that our church organizes such a great event and advertises Hellenism in the best possible way.”
Philoptochos Society Vice President Panagiota Karidis said that the members made many traditional sweets, served, cleaned and helped wherever needed.
The dance teachers, Paraskevi Langis and Stella Viris, congratulated the students for the effort they made and the time they spent to present a perfect result.
