A team of scientists, including Professor Diker, conducted an architectural mapping study of the subterranean areas five years ago. This work paved the way for the current restoration efforts, which will allow visitors to experience parts of Hagia Sophia contemporary with its 6th-century construction, as well as sections believed to be even older. The project promises a unique and captivating journey into the depths of this historic landmark, now a mosque once again.
