Greek soccer legend Mimis Domazos in critical condition following cardiac arrest

Greek soccer legend and Panathinaikos icon Mimis Domazos suffered a cardiac arrest on Wednesday and is currently hospitalized in critical condition.

Domazos, who turned 83 Wednesday, reportedly collapsed while walking in the Halandri area in northern Athens. He received initial first aid at a diagnostic center before an ambulance was called.

The ambulance crew successfully performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) before transferring him to the Red Cross hospital.

Domazos is a celebrated figure in Greek soccer history. He famously led Panathinaikos to the final of the European Champions Cup in 1971 in Wembley, a feat that remains unmatched by any other Greek team to this day and is remembered as the “Wembley Epic.”
