Greek Singer Sofia Glavopoulou to Premiere New Project in Plovdiv on October 30

Greek singer Sofia Glavopoulou will present her latest musical project, Greek Folk Meets Jazz, at the Bee Bop Cafe in Plovdiv on October 30, the organizers said on Wednesday.

The singer’s project fuses traditional Balkan music with free jazz improvisation, filling the space with emotion, rhythm and Mediterranean tenderness. The concert will also feature leading Plovdiv musicians such as Miroslav Turiyski on piano, Nacho Gospodinov on drums and Alexander Lekov on bass guitar. Glavopoulou already shared the stage with them at the premiere of her project at the Plovdiv Jazz Fest in July.

Sofia Glavopoulou is known in Greece and the Balkans as an artist who explores the intersection between vocal tradition, the oud and modern jazz vocabulary. “Sofia’s voice and the warm sound of the oud create a space in which silence is part of the melody, and improvisation is a natural breath,” the organizers said.
