Greek Recipes – Boiled Vlita (Amaranth)



Boiled leafy greens or ‘Vrasta Horta’ is a staple in Greek cuisine and an extremely popular dish in all Greek homes and most restaurants. Not only they are simple to make but the combination of many different wild greens offers a very nutritious dish.

In today’s video we are showing how to make one of these tasty greens, Vlita (Amaranth), picked from our very own vegetable garden here in the UK. A simple recipe to make, which is a perfect accompaniment to grilled or fried fish, you now have no excuse to avoid making it!! And if you visit Greece, make sure you ask for it in the restaurants you visit!
