The Greek Orthodox Community of Whittlesea (GOCW) marked the anniversary of OXI Day with a heartfelt commemoration at Thomastown’s local parish on October 28, led by Father George Frangos. Following a blessing and call for unity, peace, and prosperity from Father George, the community gathered at the GOCW’s leski in Lalor, where residents joined in celebration.
The event began with speeches highlighting the historical significance of OXI Day, led by the GOCW President, who reflected on the day’s importance.
The Director of Public Relations underscored the duty to preserve Hellenic heritage for future generations and share Greek cultural traditions with the broader community.
The gathering continued with traditional Greek music and dancing, creating a vibrant atmosphere as attendees joined together to honour their heritage.
The GOCW provided refreshments, offering the community a chance to connect and celebrate their shared values of unity and resilience.
