Greek Guide: What’s On for the end of July

Melbourne’s own Estudiantina of Melbourne returns to the stage on July 25 with Songs of the Soul, a tribute concert honouring two iconic figures in Greek urban music: Rita Abadzi and Kostas Roukounas.

Celebrating the rich storytelling traditions of early 20th-century Greek music, the ensemble will revisit the enduring works of these pioneers of laiko and rebetiko—genres deeply tied to everyday struggles, love, and migration.

The show is a featured event in our Greek Guide, where you can find full details including times, locations and booking links.

Estudiantina of Melbourne will also perform in Belgrave on August 30 for A Greek Night at Sooki.

Odeon Richmond is hosting a three-day celebration of Greek culture, featuring live performances by Anatreptix and Epistrofi, a Greek DJ set for dancing, Greek BBQ, complimentary meze, and more.

In Queensland, the multicultural music festival WOMI (World Of Music Ipswich) takes place this Sunday in Springfield, offering global food, workshops, and crafts. Greek acts on the lineup include Girl from Greece and Ellinikes.

For festivals dedicated entirely to Greek culture, Melbourne has ‘My Big Fat Greek Festival’ in St Albans on July 27, over in Blacktown NSW on the same day is the Saint Paraskevi Greek Festival and Queensland has the Mt Gravatt Street Food Greek Festival returning on the first Saturday of August, complete with traditional dancers, authentic cuisine, and plenty more.

And lastly, those who enjoy theatre, ‘Miss Julie’ is a collision of Mediterranean rituals, Australian ambition, and the raw ache of longing, running from July 31 to August 17 at Flinders Lane in Melbourne.
