Greek Guide: Festivals, live music and Panos Kiamos’s return to Australia

Get ready for a spectacular day celebrating Hellenic culture, food, and community at the Philhellenika Festival Fairfield next Sunday.

You’ll get all your usual fare of food, live music, traditional dancing and stalls but this first-time event will also offer something different – wrestling.

That’s right, Melbourne City Wrestling (MCW) will be there bringing all the body slams and powerbombs.

It’s a day of fun and culture for the whole family.

Philhellenika Festival Fairfield is a featured event of our Greek Guide which you can visit on our site for more information about events, times and bookings.

But before that, there will be more events next week to get your Greek on in Melbourne.

RMIT United Society of Hellenes (RUSH) are hosting their annual Hellenic night next Friday

It’ll be a night filled with traditional Greek music, dancing, food and great parea and be transported back to a panayiri in the xorio.

Ticket sales close this Sunday!

Next Saturday will see two live music events, with Estudiantina of Melbourne playing at Sooki Lounge for a Greek Matinee, while Demotika and Rebetiki ‘reunite’ at the Central Club Hotel in Richmond.

Next Sunday will also see an interactive panel that brings together voices from every generation, from Yiayiades and Pappoudes aged 80+, to Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z—sharing stories, insights, and hopes for the future of Hellenism in Australia.

At ‘From Yiayia to Gen Z’, expect lively discussion, heartfelt reflections, and plenty of laughter as you explore how Greek identity is carried, reshaped, and celebrated across time.

For those in Sydney, there will be a Greek street fair in Burwood on Sunday.

Invite your family and friends to enjoy live Greek music, dance, performances, market stalls, food, amusement rides and entertainment.

Lastly, Panos Kiamos is back in Australia!

He heads to Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Darwin starting next week for performances that promises all the kefi, passion and power he’s famous for.

Being one of Greece’s most popular laiko singers, you’ll be dancing the night away to chart-topping favourites including ‘Sfiriksa Ki Elikses’, ‘Fotia Me Fotia’, ‘Thelo Na Se Xanado’ and his more recent viral hit, ‘Shik Shak Shok’.
