WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A tasty tradition returned in Luzerne County, bringing Greek cuisine and community spirit. The Wilkes-Barre Greek Food Festival kicked off on Wednesday at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church on East Ross Street.
People can savor classic dishes like gyros, stuffed grape leaves, an array of sweet pastries, and so much more.
The festival is also a vital fundraiser that supports church operations.

“The gyros are amazing. All the food is very tasty, and the nice array of pastries that they have, which I grew up on as well,” Plains Township Leah Garrah said.
“We try to keep the traditions alive from, from our parents and our grandparents through the food here,” Parish Council Member Dina Banas stated.
The festival runs through Friday, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. each day.
They offer dine-in, takeout, and pre-orders available online or by phone.
