As much of the city is currently rejoicing with the news that Giannis Antetokounmpo will be staying put as a member of the Bucks through (at least) the end of this season, we’ve recently learned that another beloved Milwaukee mainstay with ties to Greece is on the move. Last week, Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church announced its annual Greek Fest will be moving to Waukesha in 2026. Opa?
This summer’s installment will take place at the Waukesha County Expo Center Grounds from Friday, June 19 through Sunday, June 21. The festival has been a part of the Milwaukee summer festival tradition for the past 60 years. Last year’s milestone 60th Greek Fest was held at Wisconsin State Fair Park.
“We are thrilled to bring Greek Fest to a new location,” Greg Papachristou, Parish Council President of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, says in the announcement posting. “As we looked for a venue that would build on our success at State Fair Park, the Waukesha County Expo Center Grounds stood out as a place where we can grow and serve even more Greek Fest enthusiasts.”
While the venue will be different, organizers say the “cherished family recipes, traditions, music, and warm hospitality” of past Greek Fest’s will live on in this year’s 61st annual festival. The announcement also indicates this year’s edition will bring other changes in the form of “new menu items, expanded entertainment, and additional cultural experiences.”
More information, such as the entertainment lineup and menus, will be released in the coming months. In the meantime, save the date(s) for this year’s Greek Fest and be sure to make note the new location. And if you want a taste of Greek Fest without the wait and/or trip out to Waukesha, Taste Of Greece will take place on the grounds of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church (9400 W. Congress St., Wauwatosa) February 14-15.
