More than 30 local children aged between 2 and 16, along with their parents and grandparents, were welcomed by the Greek Orthodox Community of Whittlesea (GOCW) for a festive afternoon filled with music, tradition and Christmas magic.
Held at the GOCW premises in Lalor, the celebration brought together families from the local Greek Program at Lalor North Primary School as well as students from Aetolian College Reservoir. The atmosphere warmed quickly as the choir Parikia opened the event with traditional Greek Christmas carols, their harmonies touching grandparents and young listeners alike. Many joined in the singalong, with the children proudly performing classic carols in both Greek and English.

“On behalf of the GOCW Board, I wish all Greek families and the wider community a joyous festive season,” said GOCW President Kris Pavlidis in her message to the community, extending warm wishes for a “Merry Christmas, safe and fun holidays, and a fabulous New Year 2026!”
The highlight of the day was the arrival of Santa Claus, greeted with cheers as he entered carrying his signature red sack of gifts. Every child received an age-appropriate present and enjoyed a generous spread that included spanakopita, sandwiches, fresh vegetables and sweet treats.
Adding to the festive spirit, the Parikia choir offered a second performance featuring traditional Greek dancing music, bringing families together on the dancefloor to close the afternoon with joy and movement.
