greek at The Courtyard Theatre UK Regional 2025

Greek is a multi-hyphenate experimental indie artist who uses bedroom alternative
soundscapes as a vehicle for introspection and storytelling. Born Michael Davie in Southwestern
Virginia, Greek’s musical foundation spans from picking up the piano at the age of eight to the
construction of “Studio B-RAD,” his own closet sound booth equipped with a blanket and a
microphone. As a small-town teenager with the internet and digital audio tools at his fingertips,
the now 22-year-old was “afforded the space to create freely” early on, honing in on the layered
instrumentals and intimate songwriting that distinguish him today and allow him to stand out
amidst a strong crop of young Virginia-bred talent that includes Shaboozey, Nettspend, and
Tommy Richman. After COVID-19 put the country in lockdown, Greek chose to bet on himself,
take risks, and dedicate himself solely to music across eight focused months of what he
describes as “musical incubation.” Drawing inspiration from pop and R&B subgenres and his
personal relationships back home, Greek bravely expanded his roots to North Carolina in 2021.
He tapped in with local artists Maasho, and Weston Estate before moving to Los Angeles to
further chase his dreams soon after. Ending 2022 with his thematically dark debut EXTC, Greek
brought the “acute, minute hardships of being a struggling musician” to the fore with nine
recordings spanning across two years. Almost entirely self-produced, it amassed 20 Million
Streams with standout singles “safety” (12M+ Streams), “rewind” (5M+ Streams), and
“hmu” (10M Streams), and Greek sold out his first two headlining shows as a result. The
album’s success earned Greek heavyweight co-signs from Elton John and Joe Budden,
features in several of Spotify’s Class of 2022 and 2024 playlists and Apple Music’s Zane
Lowe Show, helped sell out his first two headlining shows, saw him make his first appearance
at SXSW 2024, and led him to produce for other artists (SoFaygo, Weston Estate). Greek’s
sophomore album ACCELERATOR — a brighter “out West expansion pack” for EXTC — offers
an intimate look into his artistic maturation: “On the heels of some of the first real successes of
my career, these songs exude confidence and represent me coming into a new mindset in
making music.”
