NEW YORK – Greek-American singer and full-time student at Fordham University Elaina Poulos spoke with The National Herald about her new song ‘Mi Mou Thimoneis’ which is available now along with the official video: https://tinyurl.com/yfr6zw2y.
TNH: How did this new song come about?
Elaina Poulos: After the success of my first song ‘I Agapi Ine Pantou’, I wanted to continue chasing my dream of becoming a famous Greek-American singer. My colleague and fellow singer Eleni Basi introduced me to the lyricist of my song, Giannis Mallias who actually wrote Vasilis Karras’ hit song ‘Ap Ton Vora Mehri to Noto’. It was an honor to sing a song written by Giannis and the fact he believes in me means the world. The producer of the song is George Galanos who has worked on many songs with Nikos Vertis.
TNH: How long did the process take to record the song?
EP: The process was actually more dramatic than I would have liked it to be because I became sick on the day of the recording. I had practiced the song for months beforehand with my voice teacher so it was ready to be recorded when I arrived in Thessaloniki. Therefore, I had to postpone the recording and stay a week longer in Thessaloniki, but I was not complaining! Thessaloniki is such a vibrant and magical city. It was my first time visiting, so I was able to sightsee. I made so many friends- it was a fantastical journey!
TNH: What was it like making the video?
EP: This was the first time I created a music video for a song of mine, and it was such a fun experience! I had a personal stylist who encouraged me to try on looks I never thought I’d wear. At first, I was hesitant, but I knew it would be wise to trust the professionals. I am so happy about the result. We filmed the video clip in Thessaloniki in late August. One spot we chose was the outdoor café LAMA Garden of Senses as well as a park in Panorama. It was a whole day affair, but it was well worth it. I was so thankful for my team for their continued support throughout the process.
TNH: What are you working on next?
EP: I have another song recorded titled ‘Tha Kano Parti’ which will be released in the spring. It was created by the same songwriter and producer. It is an up-beat, dynamic song – similar to ‘Mi Mou Thimoneis’. I am also working on planning some gigs where I can perform my new songs. It is not easy being a full-time college student at Fordham University and having a singing career, but I believe since there are 168 hours in a week if you really want to accomplish something, you can do it!
