Greek-American Actor John Stamos Surprises Fans With Drumming Skills On Papa Roach’s “Last Resort”

Greek pride was on full display as beloved Greek-American actor John Stamos, best known for his role as Uncle Jesse on Full House, wowed music fans with an unexpected musical challenge: drumming to Papa Roach’s nu-metal anthem “Last Resort” — without ever having heard it before.

The segment was part of Drumeo’s hit YouTube series For the First Time, where musicians are tested by attempting to play unfamiliar tracks. Unlike previous episodes filmed in-studio, this special edition brought host Brandon Toews directly to Stamos’ home, where the actor showed off his personal drum setup.

Despite his extensive musical background — including years of touring with The Beach Boys and jamming with legends like B.B. King, Tom Jones, Bruce Springsteen, and John Fogerty — Stamos confessed he had never heard “Last Resort,” even mistaking it at first for a song by Ozzy Osbourne.

With guidance from Toews, and a few light-hearted interruptions by his wife and son, Stamos gamely worked through the song. After several takes, he delivered an impressive final performance, earning enthusiastic praise from fans online. One popular YouTube comment read: “Personally, I don’t think it’s fair that John Stamos is this talented AND handsome. Really couldn’t have the decency to be only one.”

Clearly winded but upbeat, the 60-year-old star joked, “I would tell every drummer that ever gets a chance to do this, ‘Don’t!’” before quickly adding, “No, this was cool. Gimme another one.” When Toews teased a follow-up featuring Swedish extreme metal band Meshuggah, Stamos laughed, “What’s Meshuggah?”

For Greek fans, the moment was a joyful reminder of Stamos’ heritage and enduring charisma — both on screen and now behind a drum kit.

Meanwhile, Papa Roach is currently touring Europe and Canada and will resume their U.S. co-headlining tour with Rise Against in September.
