Greece’s Eurovision 2025 representative, Klavdia, has teased major changes to her performance, promising that everything seen in the national final will be entirely different when she takes the stage in Basel.
In a recent in-depth interview with Wiwibloggs and Eurovision expert William Lee Adams, Klavdia shared insights into her experience at Ethnikós Telikós, the creative process behind her official music video, and what audiences can expect from her Eurovision performance.
A Special Bond with Helena Paparizou
Reflecting on her relationship with Eurovision 2005 winner Helena Paparizou, who was her coach on The Voice of Greece, Klavdia was full of admiration and gratitude:
“Helena was my coach on The Voice. I don’t even know where to begin. She is one of the most beautiful and kind souls. I was the youngest, and she was like my musical mum. She hugged me in every sense. I had never imagined, not even in my wildest dreams, that I would have this kind of relationship with her.”
A Life-Changing National Final Experience
Klavdia also opened up about her emotional journey during Greece’s national final, which saw her crowned as the country’s Eurovision representative:
“The first thing I thought about was my family and my neighbourhood watching me on TV. I cried a lot, and it was one of the best moments of my life.”
A Dramatic Transformation for Eurovision
One of the most exciting revelations from the interview was Klavdia’s collaboration with renowned artistic director Fokas Evangelinos, a legend in Eurovision staging. She assured fans that her performance in Basel will be a completely fresh spectacle:
“Our artistic director will be Fokas Evangelinos. He has staged many successful Eurovision performances. We have recently discussed everything, and we are on the same page. So far, I’m very impressed and happy, and I believe that as time goes on, the result will be even better. It will be a whole different scene. A whole different everything. The clothes, the staging, the videos—everything you saw in the national final will be different. We want to surprise you.”
Showcasing Greek Culture in “Asteromata”
Klavdia’s official music video for Asteromata, set for release soon, will spotlight Greece’s rich cultural heritage. Shot in Tetralofos, Kozani, and at the iconic Temple of Poseidon in Sounio, the video aims to present a different side of Greece beyond its well-known beaches and cities:
“We wanted to showcase Greek culture and Greece itself. It was filmed in Tetralofos, Kozani, and in Athens, at Sounio, because many people know about the Greek sea and the cities, but not about the Greek countryside. We wanted to show the way of life there, the women in traditional costumes, and many other fascinating things that I can’t wait for you to see.”
A Unique Entry in the Second Semi-Final
Addressing the diversity of songs in her Eurovision semi-final, Klavdia believes that her song’s distinctiveness will help it stand out:
“It will be interesting. Imagine a semi-final where all the songs sound the same. We want variety in musical styles. My song is different from the others, and that’s why it will stand out. I also hope that my semi-final performance will stand out as well.”
With a fresh new vision, an emotionally charged performance, and a deep connection to Greek culture, Klavdia is set to bring a powerful presence to Basel. Fans eagerly await her revamped performance and the official release of Asteromata as the countdown to Eurovision 2025 continues.
