Greece witnesses surge of over 100,000 Bulgarian travellers in November


Greece served as the second most popular destination for Bulgarian residents this past November as they played host to over 100,000 visitors.

Bulgaria reported 638,000 trips made by its residents in November, an 11.3 per cent increase compared to November 2023, as revealed by the National Institute of Statistics last Friday.

Turkey was the most visited country during that month (193,200), with Greece right behind in second (109,300), showing a strong amount of travel to fellow Balkan territories.

Other nations visited included Serbia (68,500), Romania (64.300), Germany (32,700), Italy (21,800), Austria (20,600), North Macedonia (19,300), Britain (18,600), and Spain (13,800).

Bulgaria also witnessed strong visitation during November, particularly from EU countries which amounted to 336,000 (47.2 per cent of the total 711,900 of travellers).

Greece made up 25 per cent of EU visitors, coming to roughly 84,000, demonstrating a healthy relationship between the two nations.
