Greece and Armenia are deepening their cultural cooperation through four new bilateral agreements that expand collaboration across heritage, music, and the audiovisual sector.
The agreements were signed during a meeting in Athens between senior officials from both countries, held at the National Gallery – Alexandros Soutsos Museum. The talks took place during the official visit of Armenia’s Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, Zhanna Andreasyan, and were hosted by Greece’s Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni.
The two sides reaffirmed their long-standing cultural ties and outlined concrete steps to broaden their partnership. The four agreements signed include:
– A Memorandum of Cooperation to promote joint initiatives across the cultural sector.
– A Bilateral Agreement focused on combating the illicit trafficking of cultural property.
– A partnership agreement between the Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Centre (HFAC) and the Armenian Film Foundation.
– A cooperation agreement between the Thessaloniki Concert Hall and the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra.
These initiatives establish a framework for expanded exchanges in areas such as cultural heritage preservation, music programming, and film production. Special emphasis was placed on strengthening museum collaboration, conservation efforts, and the protection of archaeological assets.
