When the Milwaukee Bucks started their season 1-6 thanks to a six-game losing streak, many fans and analysts started to wonder when two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo would request a trade. In their minds, the Greek Freak was getting fed up and would want to force his way out of Milwaukee.
However, things seem to have turned around for the Bucks over the last few weeks. They have won seven of their last nine games and are currently on a four-game winning streak. For his part, Giannis is averaging 32.4 points per game, which leads the NBA. He is also sixth in the league with 11.9 rebounds per game.
He also has no intention of forcing his way out of Milwaukee.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo Wants to Play for Greece Again in EuroBasket 2025
While the Greek Freak has no intention of leaving the Bucks any time soon, there is another team that he belongs to and cannot wait to play for again. Of course, that would be the Greek National Team.
After playing for Greece in the Olympics, Giannis cannot wait to get back to the National Team for next summer’s EuroBasket 2025. And he doesn’t plan on going back to Greece to just watch; he wants to play.
Greece recently lost to Great Britain, and when asked if he watched the National Team’s loss, Giannis said (via BasketNews), “No, but I found out that we were winning by 17 points, then they passed us, we turned it around, and in the end, we lost by a point. I think the guys will watch video, coach Spanoulis will prepare them for the next match, and I can’t wait to see them all in the summer.”
When asked if he is just going to watch (“see”) or play, the two-time NBA MVP stated, “Not to be with them. To see them and play with them again.”
In order for that to happen, though, Greece will need to qualify for EuroBasket 2025, and they have to do that without their star as he is currently playing for Milwaukee.
