Dimitris Giannakopoulos was banned from arenas for 10 months and fined €20,000, Panathinaikos was fined €44,000, Kostas Sloukas was fined €1,100, while Mathias Lessort and Ioannis Papapetrou were acquitted of misconduct charges.
Shortly before Game 3 of the Greek League Finals, the Sports Judge of the Greek Basketball League issued a decision with disciplinary actions stemming from Game 2 between Panathinaikos and Olympiacos.
PAO owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos received a 10-month ban from entering all sports venues and a €20,000 fine for repeat offenses deemed defamatory to the sport.
The incident occurred on June 1, 2025, during Game 2 of the Greek League Finals.
As a result of Giannakopoulos’ actions, the Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens club was also fined €44,000.
Player sanctions:
- Kostas Sloukas was fined €1,100 for inappropriate conduct toward the referee during the same game.
- Mathias Lessort was acquitted of similar charges.
- Ioannis Papapetrou was also acquitted, after being accused of inappropriate behavior toward a spectator.
Previously, the Finals had been temporarily suspended due to derogatory actions involving the owners of both clubs.
However, following a government meeting, it was confirmed that the series will resume.
Game 3 is scheduled for Friday night at OAKA. The best-of-five series is tied at 1-1.
