As announced, the selection of this year’s representative for Germany at Eurovision 2025 will be a matter of three. In particular, this year, the public broadcaster ARD , the private broadcaster RTL and the producer Stefan Raab will collaborate to chose this year’s Germany’s representative.
As more and more countries are gradually beginning the process of finding and selecting the artist that will represent them in Basel this year, Germany appears to be no exception, as the television networks ARD and RTL, along with producer Stefan Raab, have invited to a joint press conference at the Swiss Embassy in Berlin on October 31st at 11am to present the way highlighting this year’s German participation in Eurovision 2025.
As ARD’s lead Eurovision broadcaster, NDR will now partner with private broadcaster RTL for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Basel. The partnership of public and private bodies for the selection of the country’s representative in the Competition has also been expressed in the past by Stefan Raab, who last April proposed the participation of all four major broadcasters of the country (ARD, ZDF, RTL Deutschland, ProSiebenSat .1) for the joint organization of Germany’s National Final.
In addition to Stefan Raab, ARD program director Christine Strobl, RTL program director Inga Leschek and NDR program director Frank Beckmann will also provide information on the new process during tomorrow’s press conference.
The 2010 and 2012 national selections
It is of course not the first time that Germany has chosen this particular model to represent its representative. The last time there was a collaboration with a private broadcaster was in 2012, also involving Stefan Raab. Specifically, in 2012 , Roman Lob won the casting show “Unser Star für Baku” (Our star for Baku), which was broadcast by ARD and ProSieben, and took eighth place in the ESC final.
Two years earlier, in 2010 , the well-known Lena first won the preliminary round of “Our Star for Oslo”, also organized in collaboration, and later she was crowned the grand winner of Eurovision 2010.
