What is your favourite Greek food? What should we try next?
No to 🐌 🤢 and no to squid or octopus but yes to a majority of Greek food it delicious, I try to cook Greek food at home but it’s better when you’re there 🇬🇷🌞
Ροφός στα κάρβουνα very nice fish food
Πολύ ωραία
Stamnagathi is much better raw as a salad . I dont like the cooked one at all
Where r u guys from?
Most Greek foods are copy of Turkish and Lebanese foods
What's the name of the Taverna, please?
I just got back from an amazing time in Peloponnesse, and even tho the food i had was very different to the one you ate(mostly), it was still incredible, I was also mindblown by stuffed zuccini flowers and how incredibly good they were. Looking forward to your videos during fall/winter on Crete.
Good selection of dishes guys. Just a little trivia about this place in case you're interested. This is the location of an old mill which the locals say is where people used to go with their lover if they were cheating on their partner! Now that tourist season is slowly winding down it's a good time to try all the little tavernas in little villages. Some of the best home cooked traditional food can be found in these little taverns. If you're not afraid of clogging your arteries, try some staka. The local pasta called skioufikta is a great hearty meal in the colder months. They usually cook it up with chicken (traditionally rooster) and it is incredibly tasty in my opinion. If you are a fan of lamb, the locals love their tsigariasto (which essentially means sauteed lor fried amb). Sfakiani pita is also another favourite (derived from the Sfakia region). It is a flat round pie with a layer of mizithra cheese inside and it is usually served with honey. They also make a great cuttle fish stew with olives and fennel. Speaking of fennel, the local fennel pies called marathopites are to die for. Too many great dishes to think of right now. Just get out there and try different food. We are lucky to live in a place where we have access to great locally sourced produce. Enjoy!
There are many bitter 'greens' in the Greek cuisine, but you must keep in mind that they are not eaten in isolation, as they are combined with other dishes or snacks; for example, if you combine the greens you ate on the video with feta cheese or tomato or both, then the bitterness is just one dimension of a multi-dimensional palatal experience.
stamnagathi is ultra super food!!it may tastes bitter but for your health is the best!!
Annoying ………
how appetizing!!❤
These are mainly Cretan dishes, I don't think they eat snails in other parts of Greece, I think only in Crete. These snails are not from the sea or near it, they are from the soil, and in the spring, mostly older people come out after the rain or at night with enough humidity and pick them. They are tasty and, as they say, very healthy, but I didn't like them either, even though I'm Cretan
Cześć Beata 🙂
Seriously, snails are much better as a soup and drinking their juice directly from their shells .It is a totally different and better taste than the meat on the snails
BEAUTIFUL 😍😊💙…….
You guys are a breath of fresh air on youtube.Keep up!
❤
Tsikoudia, best part of the meal.
Everything but the snails. My Mom made them when I was young, wouldn’t then, wouldn’t now. 2:22
Μy favorite taverna in XANIA !! Ο ΜΥΛΟΣ ΤΟΥ ΚΕΡΑΤΑ. Great video guys .
The original mussaka has the nutmeg in the meat, not the cream. Originally, it was topped with cheese cream, and later on, tomato slices were added.
Anthotyro does NOT contain any herb. Anthotyro is called like that because it is produced using milk and whey from sheep or goats, sometimes in combination. Called like that because the top of the milk is used, its flower sort to speak. Much like fleur du sel.
Stamnagathi with lamb or lamb with staka. Both absolute favourites. You should try Nektarios at Askifou in Sfakia. And must try lamb with staka
You shoukd try a souvlaki!!!😊
Raoul: What are we trying next Amalia?
Amalia: 10
We had such a great time spending the day with you two. You truly are part of our family. We had so many outstanding meals during our three weeks in Greece including some tavernas in some remote villages. This one was chosen as we know the owners and we knew it would make for a truly unforgettable experience. Next time we see you both we'll make sure we get you to break the diet again and get you to taste even more of my Cretan heritage. We will see you both very soon. ❤️❤️
Good afternoon and hello again…
After the snack advises i gave you before today is the day for the real staff😂😂😂…The Cretan Food…
Before i start my opinion about the food i have to say something about the taverna you have been…As i saw from the video you went to "Mylos tou Kerata"… Right???
Totally mistake…One of the worst, expensive, overrated and touristic taverna-restaurant in Platanias and in Chania generally…The guy who take you there obviously he doesn't know or he go there because they are "famous"
All the things you ate there you find it cheaper and better even in the Platanias area which is very touristic… Search better next time…
