The Maria Callas Olympia Municipal Music Theater in Athens has indefinitely suspended operations after a fire suppression system malfunction flooded the stage with 5 tons of water on Wednesday, leading to the cancellation of all scheduled performances.

The incident disrupts a planned collaboration between the city’s cultural agency, OPANDA, and private company Athinaika Theatra, which was poised to introduce commercial productions to the venue this fall.
