Fall has arrived in Alabama. You might not feel a chill in the air, but that shouldn’t stop you from sipping pumpkin spice latte, wearing autumn colors and attending seasonal fairs and festivals throughout the state.
Here are 42 events we consider especially noteworthy, all happening in October and November.
What: Celebration of German heritage and culture, with food, beer, music, dancing, wiener dog race, 5K and 10K races, stein hoisting contest, glass blowing workshop and more.

Where: Downtown Pinson, along Main Street, about 17 miles north of downtown Birmingham.

What: Frog-jumping contest, music, food vendors, classic cars, arts and crafts.
When: Oct. 3-4. Festival starts at 4 p.m. on Friday, 8 a.m. on Saturday.

What: Lineup of about 90 bands performs heavy rock, thrash, punk and metal. Acts include Dropkick Murphys, Jimmy Eat World, Knocked Loose, Suicidal Tendencies, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Mom Jeans, Anberin, Norma Jean, Less Than Jake, Bleach, Sunami, Biohazard and more.
