Exclusive: ERT Has Started Preparations for Eurovision 2026 | When Does the Submission Period for the National Final Open? – Eurovision News | Music

With Eurovision 2025 now a thing of the past for over a month, ERT’s team has already set the wheels in motion for the 70th, anniversary edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. The first steps have been taken, and according to our sources, the plans are particularly ambitious.

First Official Meeting Next Week

The first official meeting regarding Eurovision 2026 is expected to take place next week, with the main focus being the announcement of the national final. This process will define how the next Greek entry will be selected, along with the artist who will represent Greece on the Eurovision stage.

The Call for Submissions Coming in July

According to reliable sources, ERT plans to publish the call for submissions by the end of July. Songwriters and performers will have at least two months to prepare and submit their entries.

The announcement will also clarify whether there will be semifinals or if the selection will take place through a single live show, as was the case this year.

Semifinals on the Table – Nothing Final Yet

The idea of organizing two semifinals has already been discussed within ERT. However, no final decision has been made so far. One of the determining factors will be the available budget, as the public broadcaster’s goal is not only to increase the number of live shows but also to ensure their quality and strong television presence.

First Priority: The Call – Later Come the Key Roles

As sources within ERT stress, no other decisions have been finalized yet. The upcoming meeting will focus exclusively on the contents of the call for submissions, which is currently the top priority for the Greek delegation.

Other decisions—such as who will be appointed as artistic director, or whether Klavdia will be given a special role in the process—will be made at a later stage.

Building on This Year’s Experience

With the experience of this year’s national final as their compass, ERT aims to raise the bar even higher in 2026. The goal is a transparent and credible process that offers artists the opportunity to showcase their work, and provides the audience with a true celebration of music.
