Eurovision 2025 – Greek national final to be held on January 29

On November 10th, the submission window closed for the new Eurovision national selection for Greece. Greek broadcaster ERT has now revealed new details about the selection.

A show mid-week, on January 29th

The only show of the selection will be held on January 29th, a Wednesday. National selections, especially finals, are usually held on Saturdays, but the Greek selection would actually be the second show of the season to take place on a Wednesday, after Montenegro’s Montesong later this month.

As things stand now in the calendar, Greece would hold their final in the midst of the first intense week of the season, between both semi-finals of Benidorm Fest (on Tuesday and Thursday, the 28th and 30th of January), and before the first Super Saturday of 2025, which will include the final shows of Benidorm Fest (Spain), EMA (Slovenia) and Eurosong (Belgium), as well as the first heat of Melodifestivalen (Sweden).

187 songs for 12 spots in the final

187 songs were submitted to ERT for the Greek selection. A panel of at least five judges will select up to twelve songs for the final, and three backups/reserves, without knowing the name of the artists. The rules of the selection require these judges to be independent from the artists and not to be working with a record company.

During the show, the voting will be split in three: a national televote (50%), a Greek jury (25%) and an international jury (25%). More details on the voting can be found in our previous article on the national selection.
