Eurovision 2025 viewers were flocking to social media as they spotted a Coronation Street ‘crossover’ and jokes one Weatherfield resident was ‘given night off’.
The 69th edition of the Song Contest was taking place on Saturday night (May 17) live from Basel in Switzerland, with 26 countries being represented in the competition.
The biggest music event in the world kicked off with 2024 Swiss winner Nemo returned to the Eurovision stage to do a rendition of The Code in a full-length white dress, following an opening sketch which saw a Mission Impossible-style segment to find the trophy, before it was delivered to the hosts.
It is the first time Switzerland has been the host nation of the contest, after the legend that is Celine Dion won in 1988, so the wait to roll out Eurovision’s famous turquoise carpet has been a long one.
This year, it was hosted by an award-winning stand-up comedian and presenter, one of Switzerland’s best-known international personalities and a former Eurovision participant – Hazel Brugger, Michelle Hunziker. and Sandra Studer.
But as the performances took place think and fast, those following along on social media couldn’t help but comment when it came to Greece’s act.
Singing for Greece in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest 2025 is pop star Kladvia. The 22-year-old will represent her country in the final of this year’s competition.
Klavdia won the very first edition of Ethnikós Telikós in Greece, with the prize being the opportunity to represent her country at the Eurovision Song Contest. The artist, whose full name is Klavdia Papadopoulou, rose to fame on Greece’s Got Talent when she was just 15-years-old.
However, as mentioned, those who watch Corrie couldn’t help liken Klavdia to the character Asha Alahan.
