Dimitra Georgantzoglou has officially taken up her post as the new Consul General of Greece in Melbourne, succeeding Emmanuel Kakavelakis, who recently completed his tenure in the city.
Born in Athens and a graduate of the University of Athens and Sorbonne University, Georgantzoglou has had an extensive diplomatic career since joining Greece’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She has served in a variety of roles both within the Ministry and abroad, showcasing a deep commitment to international diplomacy.
Georgantzoglou has held key positions, including serving as a counselor on Greek-Turkish relations. From 2013 to 2017, she was the First Counselor at the Greek Embassy in Prague. Her most recent posting before arriving in Australia was as Counselor for Greece’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, where she represented the country at various international organisations.
Fluent in English, French, and Spanish in addition to her native Greek, Georgantzoglou brings a wealth of linguistic and diplomatic expertise to her new role in Melbourne.
