The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra (CySO) is embarking on a six-venue tour across the island this May, bringing diverse musical performances to villages and communities as part of its mission to make orchestral music accessible to all.
Under the baton of rising Greek conductor Ioanna Vlagkouli, the orchestra will present a varied programme spanning opera overtures, passionate pieces from Bizet’s Carmen, entertaining orchestral compositions by Leroy Anderson, and traditional European and Cypriot dances.
The festive repertoire includes works by Mozart, Arriaga, Beethoven, Piazzolla, Joplin, Grieg, Brahms and Cypriot composers, designed to create an energetic atmosphere that will “spread invigorating vibes and get you up on your feet”.

The free concerts are organised in collaboration with local authorities including Tala Community Council, Dromolaxia-Meneou Municipality, Paralimni-Deryneia Municipality, Peristerona Community Council, South Nicosia-Idalion Municipality, Galata Community Council and the Communities of the Solea Complex.
Vlagkouli, born in Athens in 1992, brings impressive credentials to the performances. A graduate in Historical and Systematic Musicology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, she has conducted numerous orchestras across Europe and won several international competitions, including first prize at both the Bach International Competition and Fenix Award International Competition in 2025.
Beyond her conducting career, Vlagkouli is also an accomplished ballet dancer and choreographer, holding credentials from a Greek professional dance academy and membership with the Royal Academy of Dance.
