In a last-minute twist, Cyprus has announced that ANTIGONI will represent the country at the 70th Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place in Vienna.
The announcement came as a surprise, as in recent weeks several reports and media outlets had suggested that Josephine was the frontrunner to represent Cyprus. However, RIK had a completely different surprise in store, ultimately choosing ANTIGONI to carry the Cypriot flag on the Eurovision 2026 stage.
Who is ANTIGONI?
Antigoni, 29, grew up in London and is of Greek-Cypriot descent. Despite living in the UK, she speaks fluent Greek, which she describes as her first language. The singer first gained widespread public attention through her participation in Love Island UK, where she quickly became a fan favorite.
Before entering the show, Antigoni had around 30,000 followers on Instagram, a number that skyrocketed to over 700,000 following her appearance on the reality series.
This isn’t Antigoni’s first attempt to step onto the Eurovision stage. She previously submitted entries to represent Greece in 2023 and 2025, and earlier this year she openly expressed her desire to represent Cyprus in the contest.
