Antigoni
Antigoni Buxton is a British-Cypriot singer and songwriter from North London. She is the daughter of Greek-Cypriot television presenter and chef Tonia Buxton and has grown up surrounded by both British and Cypriot culture.
She began writing songs as a teenager and later studied at the BRIT School in London, known for producing artists such as Adele and Amy Winehouse. In her early twenties, she signed with Island Records and started developing her own sound — a mix of pop and R&B with Mediterranean influences and Greek instrumentation.
Antigoni has released several singles, including “Long Way Home”, “Never Gonna Love” and “Hit List”. Her music often features bilingual lyrics and reflects her identity as both British and Cypriot.
She became known to a wider audience in 2022 when she appeared on the British reality show Love Island, which increased her visibility across the UK and Cyprus. Despite her TV exposure, she continues to focus on her music career.
Cyprus in the Eurovison Song Contest
Since Cyprus debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981, the country has not yet managed to win in any of the 41 times the country has participated.
Cyprus came close to winning in 2018 when Eleni Foureira finished 2nd with Fuego, their best result so far.
Since the introduction of the Semi-finals in 2004, Cyprus has qualified for 12 out of 20 Grand Finals.
