South Australia’s renowned Greek cultural event returns to Semaphore Foreshore on January 18-19, marking its 44th edition with the theme ‘Όλοι Μαζί’ (‘It Takes a Village’), embracing unity and tradition.
The Semaphore Greek Festival is set to make a vibrant comeback to the Semaphore Foreshore over the weekend of January 18-19, 2025. This year, the festival celebrates its 44th anniversary with the theme ‘Όλοι Μαζί’ (‘It Takes a Village’), a tribute to unity and community spirit.
Organized by the Greek Orthodox Community of the Nativity of Christ, Port Adelaide & Environs, the festival is a vibrant display of Greek culture, featuring food, music, and dance. ‘Όλοι Μαζί’ (pronounced OH-lee Mah-ZEE), translating to ‘All Together’, captures the essence of Greek village life, where unity and cooperation are the backbones of a strong community.
More than just a celebration for Greek-Australians, the Semaphore Greek Festival extends an open invitation to everyone, welcoming people from all backgrounds to immerse themselves in Greek cultural traditions.
Proceeds from the festival will benefit local community initiatives, helping to strengthen bonds within South Australia.
“This year’s theme is a celebration of the core of Greek culture — community,” said John Douvartzidis, President of the organizing committee. “We welcome all of South Australia to join us and experience the warmth and togetherness that are central to our heritage.”
The experience has been likened to visiting Greek villages in regions like Epirus, Crete, and the Cyclades.
