Big Greek Cafe opened its ninth location at 8874 McGaw Rd in Columbia, MD a couple months back. The Maryland-based chain that started in Downtown Silver Spring has now merged with VA-based Souvlaki Bar and will open four new location in Virginia next year.
Souvlaki Bar will close all locations on Saturday, December 21st and will reopen in 2025 as Big Greek Cafe. The upcoming locations will be in Alexandria, Leesburg, Oakton, and Sterling (all four current Souvlaki Bar restaurants). Per Souvlaki Bar, “We are teaming up with The Big Greek Cafe! SouvlakiBar’s last day will be Saturday, December 21st, so come and enjoy our current offerings while you can. STAY TUNED, AS WE WILL REOPEN SOON AS THE BIG GREEK CAFE!”
Big Greek Cafe, known for its fast-casual Greek cuisine, opened its first location in Downtown Silver Spring in 2009 and has quickly grown to become a favorite across Montgomery County and now into surrounding counties. There are currently Maryland locations in Bethesda, Cockeysville, Columbia, Downtown Silver Spring, Hillandale, Kensington, Laurel, Rockville, and Urbana in Maryland. Opening dates for the converted Souvlaki Bar restaurants are not yet available.
