BELGIUM: Τhe final of Eurosong 2025 is tonight!

Today is Belgium’s time to choose the song that will represent it at Eurovision 2025. 8 artists with 8 different songs will perform today at Eurosong 2025, to claim the ticket to Basel in May, and succeed Mustii as Belgium’s representatives in the contest.

After the 2 shows which aired the previous fortnight, the 8 contestants are ready to present a complete performance of their songs, and convince the public and the jury that they are the ones to bring victory to Belgium at Eurovision 2025.

The competing songs of the evening!

The 8 songs that will compete today, in their running order, are as follows:

  • LEEZ – Perfectly imperfect (Will Knox, Loek van der Grinten, Philipine Nancy Corporaal, Lisa van Rossem)

Perfectly imperfect is an aspiring Eurovision anthem with a modern twist in which the 31-year-old LEEZ makes her voice shine optimally. The song is about how couples in a relationship can complement each other perfectly, despite the other person’s imperfections. According to LEEZ, you should not want to change that person, but accept him/her/them with the imperfections that are always there. Nobody is perfect, but that’s perfectly okay too. When LEEZ stumbled upon the words Perfectly imperfect during the writing process, she immediately felt the right connection with the song. This was what it had to be, because LEEZ also thinks of herself as not perfect.

  • Le Manou – Fille à papa (Manou Maerten, Willem Vanderstichele)

Fille à papa is a cheerful pop song in French, with many musical influences from house music of the 90s. Le Manou (29 years old) has a professional DJ career and with Fille à papa she likes to bring a big party to the stage as a singer and entertainer. Le Manou got the inspiration for her song during a writing camp in her own studio in Durbuy. It is an ironic nod to all nepo babies in the world, but with the necessary respect for what they often achieve themselves.

  • Jelle van Dael – Monster (Udo Mechels, Jelle van Dael, Lindi Konings, Willem Vanderstichele)

The song Monster by 34-year-old Jelle van Dael is about the little things that happen in life, but mostly about finding your inner strength to resist and face your inner demons. The story is partly autobiographical, but at the same time…universal: everyone can relate to the song in some way. Jelle herself co-wrote the song because she considers it important for the world to get to know her better not only as an artist, but also as a person.

  • Mentissa – Désolée (Mentissa Mpatha Ngandu, Vianney Bureau, Lili Louise Musique/La Passée Editions)

Désolée by 24-year-old Mentissa is a song about self-confidence: you realize at some point that you have to dare to be more yourself and that you don’t have to constantly change yourself for the sake of the greater good. You can’t do good for everything and everyone. So the song says decisively: “I’m sorry, I’m not sorry anymore.” At the same time, this requires a balance, because Mentissa describes herself as a sensitive person. This is a strength, but also a weakness, as she believes. Mentissa also wants to make an artistic statement with Désolée. She sees it as the beginning of a new, more pop era in her musical career.

  • Lenn – Air balloon (Len Neefs)

Air balloon is Lenn’s very first single release. The 25-year-old Lenn wrote the song when he was mentally in a more difficult place. It is a call to see the positive: no matter how dark the night can be, the sun always rises the next day. There will be beautiful moments again, but sometimes it takes some time. Air balloon was not written especially for Eurosong. The song mainly stems from Lenn’s feelings and from his intention to say something as an artist.

  • Stefanie Callebaut – Gloria (Stefanie Callebaut, Jeroen Swinnen)

Singer Stefanie Callebaut describes Gloria as an adventurous celebration of light and love. Those who have already had the opportunity to hear the song often describe it as a modern Bohemian Rhapsody, and the singer applauds it. “Gloria is not just a pop song, it is a unique journey, an experience. A connection, where I see myself as a bridge, between the song and the hearts of the people. It has been observed in recent years that the most special songs often finish high in the Eurovision Song Contest. Therefore, I am convinced that Belgium can make a big impression in Basel with Gloria,” said Stefanie. The fact that her own daughter is also called Gloria is probably no coincidence.

  • Red Sebastian – Strobe lights (Seppe Herreman, Billie Bentein, Ameerah A. Roelants, Willem Vanderstichele)

25-year-old Red Sebastian is attempting to enter Eurosong 2025 with… strobe lights. Sound-wise, the song is an ode to the rhythms of 90s rave culture. Strobe lights describes the aftermath of an exciting night at a club, where you know where it begins but not where it ends. Vocally, the song is a feat: it perfectly showcases all the elements of Seppe Herreman’s vocal ability, both in the high and low octaves. With his amazing voice, Red Sebastian wants to make a difference in Basel.

  • Grace – Pull up (Grace Khuabi, Willem Vanderstichele, Ameerah A. Roelants)

Pull up by 22-year-old Grace is an upbeat party song with meaning. The song is about standing up for yourself. In the past, Grace followed the herd more quickly. Her song is a call from her older self to her younger self: ‘stand up for yourself’, or ‘pull up’. It is a positive message to all the people who are listening. With Pull up, Grace shows herself from a different side as an artist. Moreover, there are also some phrases in Lingala in the song, as a tribute to her Congolese roots.

The last time Belgium hosted a national final was in 2023, where Gustaph impressed the public and the jury and went to Eurovision in Liverpool, where he took 7th place.
